Mongolia welcomed two new Grand Masters at the 90th Congress of World Chess Federation which was held in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE on 27-29 February.
After the ‘Biel Master International Open Tournament’ that was held in August, 2018, S.Bilguun reached to the world ranking of 2503. As his success satisfies the four norms of Grand Master title, the International Chess Federation (FIDE) officially announced that he has become a Grand Master of Chess at the 90th FIDE Congress that took place in the United Arab Emirates on February 27-29, 2020.
S.Bilguun, who has been training in chess for 16 years, earned the International Master title in 2016. By qualifying for the Grand Master title in 2020, he has become Mongolia’s fifth Grand Master of Chess, the Mongolian Chess Federation reports.
Also, Ts.Bat-Erdene from Arkhangai province has qualified as Grand Master and has reached to the world ranking of 2431.
