Earlier today (10 February), Mongolia’s southernmost province South Gobi (Umnugobi), declared a state of emergency after two coronavirus cases were reported in Khaliut, a city across the border in China’s Inner Mongolia. The provincial governor of South Gobi issued decree declaring an emergency in two soums namely, Khanbogd and Gurbantes which border with China via the Gashuun Sukhait border crossing.
In addition, the governor ordered shops, cafeterias and other services to refuse to serve customers who do not wear face masks.
As of today, there are still no any cases of coronavirus infection in Mongolia.
