A Mongolian citizen has been fined MNT 2 million for spreading fake news over coronavirus. Named ‘E’ for legal reasons, the person from the Bayanzurkh District of Ulaanbaatar posted a Facebook message saying that Mongolia quarantined the first case of coronavirus detected on 25 January.

In order to combat fake news, Mongolia approved amending article 6.21 to the Law on Offence.

As of today, (7 February), there have been no reported cases of coronavirus in Mongolia.
