Earlier today (31 January), the Mongolian Government officially fully closed southern border and forbade passengers to enter Mongolia from China – this applies also to transit passengers from other countries. In addition, Mongolia has banned its citizens from travelling to China until 3 March.

Previously, Mongolia had partially closed its border crossings for pedestrians and vehicles; train and flights were continuing as normal.

Mongolia will accept its citizens from China through the border crossings until 6 February and through the border crossings at Buyant-Ukhaa international airport and Zamyn-Uud rail crossing until 2 March. International trade between Mongolia and China will continue normally.
