Nearly 100 flights between Mongolia and China cancelled

A total of 95 flights between the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar and the Chinese cities of Hohhot, Hong Kong and Beijing, where there are cases of coronavirus, have been cancelled. The World Health Organisation has ‘upgraded’ the Chinese coronavirus outbreak to a  ‘global emergency’; the virus has officially killed over 200 people and infected in 15 countries.

It is important to note that number of flight decision represents a reduction – not an all-out cancellation.

MIAT Mongolian Airlines has cancelled some of its flights to Beijing and Hong Kong. The airline company cancelled 10 flights in February to Beijing, and 2 flights in February, and 8 flights in March to Hong Kong. All other flights are conducted as normal.

In addition, Eznis Airways LLC has cancelled a flight between Ulaanbaatar and Hong Kong. Beijing-based Air China has cancelled 56 flights between Ulaanbaatar and Chinese capital from 24 January to 3 March as well as 20 flights between Hohhot and Ulaanbaatar from 25 January to 29 February.
