A Diabetes Prevention Centre opened in the Khan-Uul District of Ulaanbaatar on 30 December. The new facility comes under the auspices of the existing Khan-Uul Health Centre.
The centre will provide health counseling and a positive training environment. The emphasis of the initiative is on monitoring the early detection of diabetes and providing care.
The number of people suffering from cardiovascular disease has increased in recent years due to the people’s social, cultural and lifestyle habits in Mongolia. As of May 2019, a total of 1256 people with diabetes were under the surveillance of the Khan-Uul District Health Centre; this represents an increase of 285 compared with the same period of 2017.
