One of the 20 Mongolian delegates, participating in a UN International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), has been confirmed as having been infected by cholera. The conference was hosted by Kenya on 11-14 November. The patient has been admitted to a hospital in Nairobi after having vomit and diarrhoea.
The other 19 people returned to Mongolia on three flights on 16 November and have been undergoing observation at the National Centre for Communicable Diseases (NCCD). The three planes which transported the delegates have sterilised by medical teams.
Over 6,000 delegates from 160 nations, including heads of state, attended the three-day UN forum.
