Former Member of Parliament D.Gantulga has been sentenced to two years in prison for the rape and attempted rape of two women. The trial took place at Khan-Uul District Court of Ulaanbaatar on Monday between 2.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m.
D.Gantulga has since been accused of raping 25-year-old Ch.Naranzaya at her home in June, 2017. The victim’s sister first reported the alleged crime to the police. When the case was made public, Gantulga, 31, pleaded not guilty and insisted that they ‘mutually consented’ to have sexual intercourse. However, another woman reported to the police on 27 November, 2018 that D.Gantulga had tried to rape her. Judges at the Khan-Uul District Court decided to sentence D.Gantulga for one year and four months in prison for raping Ch.Naranzaya as well as another eight months for attempting to rape another victim.
D.Gantulga from the Mongolian People’s Party won his seat in the State Great Khural from the 42nd parliamentary district in June 2016.
