Mongolian PM receives the UN ‘I commit to SDG’ badge

Earlier today (5 November), Mongolian Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh held a meeting with Tapan Mishra, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mongolia. During the hour-long meeting the two discussed the Mongolia-UN partnership and the notable contribution of Mongolia to the UN including peacekeeping operations.

The two men agreed that for a country with significant natural wealth and highly educated and talented young population, Mongolia needs to fuse new technologies and innovation with the unique Mongolian nomadic culture and tradition thus creating a ‘national brand’; and – has been said so many times before – to diversify the economy away from exporting mining raw materials to a value-added agricultural production and to promote the country worldwide with a developed tourism industry. All these things fall under the UN SDG’s – or “sustainable development goals”.

At the meeting Mr. Tapan Mishra gave to Mongolia’s PM the ‘I commit to SDG’ badge and wished him success and prosperity in the Mongolian language.
