A national forum for young engineers has been held at Mongolia’s State House under the auspices of the prime minister. The forum aimed at introducing new projects from the Mongolian Cabinet and an exchange of views on how the country can keep abreast of digital transition. The forum was organized the Mongolian Social Democratic Youth Union with support of the Erdenes Mongol Company and the Erdenet Mining Corporation.
Over 1000 young engineers participated in the forum. During the event, presentations on current and future challenges in the media, technology, communication, mining, construction, energy and road sectors were given.
Mongolian Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh noted that 50 percent of country’s population falls into the 15-34 year-old working age catergory and half of them are engineers. This is Mongolia’s real wealth. However, MP N.Uchral said that Mongolian Government needs to focus on increasing job market prospects for engineers as only 17 percent of university engineering graduates end up in engineering professions.
