A new ‘Nightlight Street’ has opened in the National Park, a popular place for Ulaanbaatar locals to get some fresh air after work and at weekends. It is a great place for sporting activities such as cycling and running. The street is decorated by 240-meter long lights.
The eye-catching Nightlight Street has been established under projects such as the ‘Light Ger’ by ‘Love Light Land’ Company and the National Park. The project of the Nightlight Street began on 1 May 2018. As part of the project, a ‘Steel Ger’, which is 42 meters in diameter and 15 meters high – the biggest in Asia is now under construction and is expected to open in spring.
In addition, a 400-meter long fountain and water road are to be constructed; in the winter this will become a skating rink in winter and a place for pedal boats for children in summer.
In the ‘Nightlight Street’, the sale and consumption of alcohol is banned. Entry costs MNT 5000.
Previously, Seoul Street, located in central Ulaanbaatar just south of Peace Avenue, had been transformed into the capital’s ‘Nightlight Street’. However, it has been closed due to complaints from the public – in particular, local residents – complaining of night-time noises.
