The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports of Mongolia has issued Order A/689, which bans the celebration of Halloween in schools this year. Stressing that Halloween was not an officially recognized holiday, it ordered all schools to put a stop to organized celebrations for the second year.
Furthermore, the Ministry reminded parents that they should not allow their children to take part in celebrations and Halloween events; these could affect children’s behavior and grades. Parents are urged to ensure that their children to spend their free time more effectively.
In recent years, Mongolian schools have been increasingly celebrating Halloween and other international holidays due to foreign language teaching and other cultural influences.
