Since 2017, the Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been cooperating with France on a project to establish an air rescue division as well as buying firefighting helicopters and specialized vehicles. On Wednesday (16 October), a project financing agreement was signed by Mongolian Finance Minister Ch.Khurelbaatar and H.E. Philippe Merlin, French Ambassador to Ulaanbaatar.
As a part of the project, an air rescue division will be established with 12 pilots, 12 technical staff and three doctors. In addition, NEMA plans to buy three Airbus EC-145 T-1 helicopters, a small-seized helicopter for training pilots, a simulator, hangar and fueling facility.
