A total of 48 young Mongolian couples got married today (15 October) at the Central Wedding Palace in Ulaanbaatar. This large number is due to today being an auspicious day known as the 17th of mid-autumn in lunar calendar. The Mongolian Wedding Palace hosts over 1500 ceremonies per year.
This year, the youngest couple who got married were only 19-year-old. According to the Statistics Office of Mongolia, the average age for the first marriage is now 26 for women and 29 for men. Nine years ago, Mongolian women married on average at the age of 24.2 and men at 26.2.
