Sumo Grand Champion helping young Mongolians to study in Japan

Asashoryu D.Dagvadorj, the 68th Grand Champion of Japanese professional sumo wrestling, is implementing the ‘New Uvurkhangai’ project. Aiming to contribute to the development of Uvurkhangai Aimag (Province), the project in partnership with Japan will send 1000 young people from the province for training at companies in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Osaka and Saitama over the next five years.

The first selection was organized in Kharkhorin Soum in July. Ten people, have been selected for training at a food distribution company in Saitama; they are now attending a language course and will leave for Japan on 18 January 2020.

The next selection will be held on November 9 in the Khujirt Soum of Uvurkhangai Aimag to select 16 women who will be trained at a food processing factory for three years.
