Earlier today (24 September), the Mongolian Ministry of Defence in coordination with the Cabinet held a special ‘Open Day’ on Sukhbaatar Square. The Chief of the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces, the National Defence University (MNDU),the  Mongolian Military Museum and the Central Military Hospital also participated in the event.

During the event, family members of Mongolian peacekeepers have been able to speak to loved ones contacted serving in Afghanistan and South Sudan. A total of 10 peacekeepers talked with their families.

Currently, one battalion of Mongolian soldiers is serving in South Sudan on UN peacekeeping operations and there are two in Afghanistan.
