At the initiation of Ts.Iderbat, Mayor of the Chinggis Khaan City, eco buses are now running in the public transport system. The town is the administrative centre of Khentii Province.
A total of six eco buses are currently running in the public transportation system covering six routes and two other have been kept for stand-by.
The town, previously known as Ondorkhaan, is located 290 km east of Ulaanbaatar. The Mongolian Parliament renamed the city Chinggis City on 18 November, 2013 in honour of the Great Khaan of the Mongol Empire, who was born – and possibly buried – in the same province to the north of the city.
