The Mongolian Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports has issued a decree to educate children with disabilities along with other pupils beginning with the 2019-2020 academic year. However, the Association for Parents of Children with Disabilities noted at the press conference that the ministry must solve budget issue for hiring professional teachers in schools. In addition, very real problems exist regarding discrimination – sub-conscious or direct – against disabled children from pupils and parents. Of course, there are also many different types of disabilities: for example, pupils in wheelchairs will require ramps.

According to the report from the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, about 8000 disabled children out of 14000 have been born with birth defects in Mongolia.
