A Mongolian-Russian youth expedition is travelling across a swathe of Mongolia, from the Russian border in the north, to the site of the series of battles at Khalkhin Gol, which took place in the summer of 1939 against the Empire of Japan. The route of the patriotic trek takes in – Selenge – Darkhan-Uul – Orkhon – Ulaanbaatar – Khentii – Dornod- and, finally, the Khalkha River where the great tank battle took place. Over 200 participants including veterans, officials and young people from the two neighbouring countries make up the expedition. During the patriotic journey, the members of the expedition are holding meeting with veterans, organising events for stirring up patriotism among children and laying wreaths at the various monuments to the Battle of Khalkhin Gol.
Currently, the expedition has arrived in Khentii Province.
