Khalkhin Gol Battle diorama stars at new exhibition

A new exhibition including a diorama of the Battle of Khalkhin Gol is about to open to public on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the combined Soviet-Mongolian victory over the Empire of Japan. At the exhibition, you can learn about the important historical event that changed the future of WW 2 – and modern history – and see depictions of such Mongolian heroes as L.Dandar, Sh.Gongor and Marshal Kh.Choibalsan.

Historians consider that Battle of Khalkhin-Gol in the Mongolian steppes changed the trajectory of Japanese expansionism towards Pearl Harbour and Europe’s Asian colonies. This undeclared war raged from May to September 1939 involving over 100,000 troops and 1,000 tanks and aircraft. Some 30,000-50,000 men were killed and wounded.
