South Korean woman goes missing in Mongolia

A 61-year-old South Korean woman went missing on Sunday (11 August) after climbing Tsetsee Gun Mountain in Zuunmod Soum of Tuv Province. The Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency received a call at 5.00 p.m reporting that the woman, whose surname is Lee, had gone missing.

A search and rescue operation is currently underway.

Situated near Zuunmod about 50km south of the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, Tsetsee Gun Uul (2258m / 7,406ft), is one of the holy mountains in the Bogd Khaan Mountain range and the highest in the Bogd Uul region. The 5km walk starts at the car park at the entrance to the Bogd Khaan Uul protected area and climbs up to the Manzshir Monastery.
