Flash floods hit 100 households in Ulaanbaatar

Heavy rain has caused flash flooding in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, where nearly 100 households have been inundated. Mongolian National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that officers rescued 44 people – 15 of them are children – from the flooded area.

NEMA officers rescued 17 adults and 14 children who were stranded in 12 houses, 15 gers and two cars, which were lost in the flooding in 12-14th Khoroo of Khan-Uul District. 52 NEMA officers with 10 rescue vehicles worked for five hours to save these people..

In another part of town, nearly 40 houses and 30 gers were lost in the flooding in 11th Khoroo of Bayanzurkh District where 12 people and a child were saved by NEMA officers.

According to the metrological agency, the heavy rain will continue until end of this weekend.
