Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar received Ambassador of Canada to Mongolia David Sproule on 23 July as his mission in the country comes to a close.

The Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for Ambassador Sproule’s effort in expanding bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields. The  two men pointed out that Mongolia and Canada share mutual values  such as democracy, human rights and freedom, and have reached high levels of political dialogue, strengthening bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.

Canada recognized Mongolia in 1964 and diplomatic relations were established in 1973. Mongolia opened its embassy to Canada in 2001 and the Embassy of Canada to Mongolia was opened in Ulaanbaatar in September 2008.
