The German authorities have arrested two Mongolian diplomats who were seized with 70 kilograms of heroin in their car in the city of Dresden, German customs reported Wednesday (5 May).
Earlier today (6 May), Director-General of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. L.Munkhtushig held a press conference regarding the case. According to his statement, the two Mongolians who were arrested in Germany were a consular employee and a driver both based at the Mongolian General Consulate in Istanbul.
Germany custom officials said in their statement that their employees had stopped a car with diplomatic registration plates entering the country from the Czech Republic in which two Mongolian citizens were travelling. Custom officials found two bags with 140 rolls of 500 grams of heroin in the vehicle. The statement said the value of the drug is estimated at EUR 3 million.
