Mongolia’s National Men’s Team has won against Latvia and Belarus at the FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup. The competition is being held on Sukhbaatar Square in the heart of the Mongolian capital. Now, recognized as an Olympic sport, this is the first time that 3×3 Basketball World Cup is being organized in Mongolia.

A total of 40 teams – 20 men’s and 20 women’s teams from 34 countries are competing in the U18 World Cup.

The men’s national team has been put into Group C with the teams of the U.S., Latvia, Georgia and Belarus, while the women’s team is in a group with the teams of France, Netherlands, the Philippines and the Czech Republic.

Accepted as  a part of the FIBA events and tournaments since 2011, 3×3 basketball was recognized as an Olympic sport in 2017. This year has seen the start of with qualification tournaments for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
