The ‘Transit Mongolia 2019’ forum has been held at the Shangri La Hotel in Ulaanbaatar. The event aims at increasing the volume of transit freight through Mongolia. The subject is extremely important to Mongolia, as it is wedged between Russia and China; the most important rail and road corridors between Moscow and Beijing pass through the country.

Previously, the forum was hosted in Beijing in 2017 and in Moscow in 2018.

‘Transit Mongolia’ programme was approved by Mongolian Cabinet in 2008 and was introduced in Beijing the following February.

Transit container freight through Mongolia was 85097 in 2018. This has reached to 40828 in first quarter of this year; equivalent to 50 percent of 2018.
