Mongolian pair conquers the highest mountain of North America

Two Mongolian mountaineers, B.Gangaamaa and Ch.Ariunzul have successfully climbed Denali (6144 m), highest mountain of North America. The ascent was made on 29 May. Until 2015, Denali was known as Mt McKinley.

Mountaineer B.Gangaamaa has already proudly raised the Mongolian national flag on the highest mountains of the world. Fellow mountaineer Ch.Ariunzul, founder of ‘Khairkhan Ayalagch’ hiking club, has climbed all the highest peaks of Mongolia, Europe, Africa and South America.

Last year, Mongolian mountaineers surmounted all the Seven Summits – the highest mountains of the world continents. The sport of mountaineering has been steadily developing in Mongolia over fifty years.

Mountaineering emerged as a sport in Mongolia in the middle of the last century. In 1951 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the People’s Revolution, for the first time, young athletes raised the national flag on Asralt Khairkhan Mountain, the highest peak of the Khentii Mountain Range, 2800 meters above sea level.
