Mongolian athlete M.Ankhtsetseg has participated in the women’s 81kg category at the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships. The competition was held in the Chinese city of Ningbo on 20-28 April.
M.Ankhtsetseg claimed bronze medals by lifting 93kg in the snatch and 113kg in the clean and jerk categories respectively, resulted in winning a silver medal with her lifting 206kg in total. More than 220 weightlifters from 28 countries competed for qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
At the Rio-2016 Summer Olympics, M.Ankhtsetseg competed in the women’s 69 kg category and was listed in eighth place. After giving birth to her first son in October 2018, she raised her weight category to 81kg; however, she returned to training from January for qualification at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
M.Ankhtsetseg made historic records after becoming champion of the Youth Asian Weightlifting Championships and the Students’ World Weightlifting Championships; she also won a bronze medal from the World Weightlifting Championships.
