There are 725 thousand children aged between 2 and 16 in Mongolia today – 80-90 percent of them suffer from tooth decay!
In order to combat this problem, the Mongolian Ministry of Health has introduced a national programme providing free dental check-ups and treatment for Mongolian children aged between 2 and12. Under the ‘Healthy Teeth and Healthy Children’ programme, 161 hospitals in the nine districts of Ulaanbaatar will provide free dental treatment for children.
Fortunately, half of them – or 336 thousand children aged between 2 and 6 – will receive free dental treatment in 2019.
The programme will run until 2023.
