Yesterday (11 April), firefighters extinguished a fire at Dalan Davkhar Cemetery (Silent city) in Ulaanbaatar. According to Mongolia’s National Emergency Management Agency, the fire, which engulfed a total of two hectares area in the cemetery, was caused by a cigarette butt. Fire crews extinguished the fire fully within an hour. Fortunately, no graves were affected by the fire.
The cemetery covers 137 hectares of land and contains over 250,000 graves.
