A 60-year-old Mongolian woman has transformed her Ulaanbaatar home into a mini library. But the collection is not just for her use: volunteer librarian S.Khishigt has been providing many interesting books for school-children who live nearby her home for the past year.
On Tuesday (9 April), Ya.Baatarbileg, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, gave S.Khishigt a laptop as a mark of appreciation for taking efforts for the future of the children of the neighbourhood.
S.Khishigt said that ‘people often say, children of today don’t read books. This is not really true. The problem is that parents don’t buy them books and don’t read with them – instead they give their children smartphones’.
