Today evening, there was a sense of panic among Ulaanbaatar residents when a fire broke out in the city administration building. Was it to be the new mayor’s worst nightmare? According to Mongolia’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the fire started on the first or second floor of ‘A’ building of the UB Administration. at 6.00 p.m. on Monday 18 March.
“Towering Inferno” it was not to be! A NEMA fire crew was quick on the scene and doused the flames. All that appears to have suffered was some wooden furniture and other sundry items.
A spokesperson from the UB city administration said that the fire started from a cooling fan. A total of nine people were evacuated from the room where the fire started. No injuries have been reported.
