Trainers from the Tokyo fire department have been visiting Ulaanbaatar for training and exchanging experience with Mongolian officers from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). Over 60 officers from the Fire and Rescue Department in the nine districts of the Mongolian capital are participating in the training.
NEMA was created by an act of the Great State Khural (parliament) law in June 2003 with the duty of providing nationwide coverage in disaster prevention. The fire brigades are all under NEMA. All the 21 provinces and the capital city have a NEMA emergency management division and department.
