Ulaanbaatar to host Asian U23 Wrestling Championship

The U23 Senior Asian Championships will take place on 24-26 March in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. Freestyle wrestling teams from Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Inner Mongolia, Taiwan, Singapore and Yemen have applied to participate in the competition.

This year, Beijing-2018 Olympic champion Ramazan Sahin will visit Mongolia with his fellow athletes. Currently, he has been training his athletes in the Russian Republic of Dagestan. Russian-Turkish freestyle wrestler Ramazan Sahin immigrated in 2005 to Turkey with the help of his uncle Ishak Irbayhanov, who is manager of the Turkish national freestyle wrestling team. He has won gold medals for Turkey at  the Olympics, the European Championships and the World Championships.

The  previous Asian Championships were held in 1973, 1993 and 2001, while the Cadet and Junior Asian Championships were held in 2013 and 2014 respectively in Mongolia.
