Mongolian beauty star E.Enkhriimaa was listed Top 20 at Miss World-2018 not just for her looks but for her outstanding humanitarian work. She initiated a project against tuberculosis and has been implementing voluntary work since October 2018. Within the context of her ‘Tuberculosis-free Mongolia’ project, E.Enkhriimaa wrote a letter to Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan, who is also goodwill ambassador of the Global Tuberculosis Programme of the World Health Organization (WHO). In the letter, E.Enkhriimaa asked Peng Liyuan to share her experience of successfully implemented projects. In response, the Chinese First Lady donated CHY 100,000 to ‘Tuberculosis-free Mongolia’. The money was presented by Xing Haiming, Chinese Ambassador to Mongolia earlier today (27 February).
According to the WHO, Mongolia, with a population of three million is one of the seven countries with the highest incidence of tuberculosis in the Western Pacific Region. WHO data estimates there are approximately 4,000 new cases per year. Over 200 people die of tuberculosis annually; 65 percent of them are aged between 15 and 44.
