Mongolia earned USD 169.2 million from coal exports to China in January, the Mongolian Customs General Administration (MCGA) said on Tuesday.
The country exported a total of 2.1 million tonnes of coal in January, virtually all to China. The figure represents an increase of around 192,000 tonnes from the same period in 2018. Last year, Mongolia exported a total of 36.5 million tonnes of coal last year, reaching an all-time high.
Coal is the one of main export commodities of Mongolia.
The government of Mongolia has set a goal to increase coal exports to 40 million tons in the coming years.
