Mongolians have long vacation for celebrating Lunar New Year

The Lunar New Year celebrations in Mongolia will soon be here.  Known in Mongolia as “Tsagaan Sar,” it is a period of great celebrations for families and traditionally lasts three days.  This year, however, there will be a week-long holiday starting on February 5th and the holiday will continue over the weekend.  The holiday will continue through the weekend. To accommodate for this, the working day of Friday, February 8th, will instead be transferred to Saturday, February 2nd.

Tsagaan Sar is a holiday that celebrates the end of winter and welcome a flourishing new year with hopes and wishes for a healthy and wealthy life.

The entitlement to national public holidays is regulated by the Labour Code of Mongolia of 1999.  Over the last ten years, several amendments and additions have been made to the Labour Code that provide adequately paid time off for all employees.
