Mongolian children who are disabled will be able to enjoy comprehensive healthcare services from the new Development Centre for Disabled Children in Ulaanbaatar. Building the centre was made possible by a non-refundable aid grant from the Chinese government.
This medical centre is the largest, most modern and a fully functional treatment and rehabilitation facility for disabled children in Mongolia. It is expected that the centre will be officially opened in March or April this year.
Covering an area of about 14,990 square meters, the medical centre has three floors above ground and one basement level. With 250 beds and advanced medical equipment, the centre can provide medical care for 250 outpatients a day.
According to the health minister, there are about 130,000 people with disabilities in Mongolia of which about 11% are children.
