As part of its continued policy of setting up diplomatic ties with all UN state countries, Mongolia established diplomatic relations with Barbados on January 17th, 2019. The agreement was signed in New York City by Mongolia’s permanent representative to the United Nations S.Sukhbold and his Barbudan counterpart Elizabeth Thompson.
The two countries agreed to adopt the two principles of cooperation and friendly relations, and to adhere to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the United Nations Charter and the principles and norms of international law.
Parties expressed that establishing diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Barbados opens more opportunities for cooperation and support in the framework of international institutions and the national organizations of both countries.
Mongolia now has diplomatic relations with over 150 UN member nations.
