A citizen from the United States was found dead in the Shangri-La Hotel in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar, on 12 December. According to an early source, 34 year–old M.K.Stuart, a US major, had been strangled with his belt in a hotel room.
The police seized an empty bottle of alcohol and other belongings as evidence. The case was investigated by the Sukhbaatar District Police Department. According to the police, he committed suicide. Major Stuart’s body has since been returned to the USA.
The US Embassy in Mongolia has expressed condolences and explained that they cannot not give any additional information.
