All types of imported fuel wood, oriented standard boards (OSB) and wooden building materials with the exception of logs, have been exempted from customs duties from 1 January, 2019.
The Mongolian Government approved the Law on Customs Duty Exemption on 10 May 2018. The law aims to decrease illegal logging and protect the thousands of young trees which have been planted under the urban forestation initiatives.
The law will remain in force until 31 December 2022 by which time the government shall approve the list of goods to be exempt from import duties in accordance with the ‘Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System’.
