Mongolian marathon runner B.Ser-Od has won the silver medal in the 49^th Hofu Yomiuri Marathon. The competition took place in Hofu, Japan on 16 December. B.Ser-Od finished 42 km race in 2:12:12.

Japanese marathon runner Yuki Kawauchi won 1^st place with a finishing time of 2:11:29. A total of over 3,000 athletes participated in the annual marathon organized by the Yomiuri Shimbun, one of Japan’s top five newspapers.

B.Ser-Od represented his country in the marathon at the Summer Olympics in 2004, 2008 and 2012 where he was also flag bearer. D.Ser-Od began his international career in 2002 and has competed in the marathon on five consecutive editions of the World Championships in Athletics since 2003. His best performance is 20^th at the 2011 World Championships. He is Mongolia’s first ever elite level marathon runner and his personal best of 2:08:50 is the Mongolian national record.
