A joint project between Mongolia and Canada for supporting young Mongolian hockey players was launched with an official ceremony at the Canadian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar on Wednesday.
The sport started developing in Mongolia during the socialist period, however, the it could not develop effectively due to the lack of coaches, hockey rinks, clothing and equipment.
The Embassy of Canada and the Mongolian Ice Hockey Federation have been collecting clothing and equipment in Canada in collaboration with companies and individuals from the two countries. The donated items will be distributed to Mongolian hockey teams and federations in Mongolia.
The Hockey Days in Mongolia event will be held on February 16-19, 2019. During the event coaches led by Nate Leslie, coach of Leslie Global Sports Club of Vancouver city of Canada, will come to Mongolia to conduct training for Mongolian hockey players and coaches on the ice rink.
