Mongolian Cabinet approves quotas of wildlife hunting

The Government of Mongolia has issued a resolution on setting quotas for hunting wild animals in 2019. The quotas are based on plans for 40 wildlife management areas in 15 provinces. The new quota for 2019 permits sport hunters and others to shoot 79 argali sheep, 92 ibexes, 40 red deer, 37 roe deer, 45 wild boars, 160 Mongolian antelope, 30 gray wolves and up to 500 birds. The quota of wildlife hunting has increased from 2015.

In addition, up to 500 taimen and up to 5000 other fish were allowed to be caught, must be released and returned to water. The numbers under discussion are under 5 percent of the total wild animal population of Mongolia.
