Antibiotics are one of the great advancements in medicine in the world; however, antibiotic overuse can cause bacterial resistance warns the World Health Organization. According to a WHO study, Mongolia is leading the world in the overuse of antibiotics. Mongolians usually take antibiotics for simple ailments such as a cough and sore throat.
Mongolia’s Health Ministry agrees with the WHO position and has raised concerns on the issue and urged Mongolians to use antibiotics properly.
Currently, the East Asian country is also marking World Antibiotic Awareness Week with various events nationwide.
