Food prices increase following jump in fuel

The prices of daily-use consumer products such as breads, milk, rice and flour have increased in Mongolia after fuel prices rose by five times since the beginning of 2018.  Fuel importers raised fuel prices by MNT 50-250 per litre in January, February, July, August and October.

As of 31 October, the price of diesel had increased to MNT 2220-2385, Ai 76, 80 to MNT 1780-1850, Ai 92, 93 to MNT 1950-1985 and Ai 95 to MNT 2300-2345. Fuel importers have explained that the increase of fuel prices is linked to USD rate against the MNT and the global oil price situation.

As result of the fuel jump, the prices of daily-use consumer products have increased by MNT 50-100.
