National Tree Planting Day of will be marked on Saturday (13 October).
With the aim of increasing the green space of the country, rehabilitating the surroundings, reducing air pollution and increasing public engagement in protecting the environment, National Tree Planting Day is organised twice each year on the second Saturday of second May and October.
In the ‘Happy Ulaanbaatar’ programme of the 2016-2020 Action Plan of the Mayor and Governor, it has been stated that the Mongolian capital will have a green development policy in compliance with international standards and create comfortable conditions for all those who live and visit the city. Tomorrow, all organisations, general education schools, hospitals and kindergartens will plant trees on the land outside their buildings.
The National Day of Tree Planting has been organised since 2010 in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. 63. During the period from the launch till last year, Mongolians have planted a total of 2 million and 22 thousand trees. However, only planting trees is not enough – they need to be cared for to grow well.
