The bilateral trade of Kazakhstan and Mongolia reached US$28.8 million in the first five months of the year.
Kazakhstan is one of main tobacco and oilseed rape exporters to Mongolia, having supplied over US$25 million worth of these products in 2017. Mongolian companies are interested in increasing the range of imports including construction materials. The two sides reached agreements during a visit of a Kazakh trade mission to Ulaanbaatar on 4 October.
The mission was organised by the Ministry of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of Kazakhstan to Mongolia, the Chamber of Foreign Trade of Kazakhstan, National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Mongolia.
The Kazakh delegation consisted of representatives of food and construction companies. More than 40 Mongolian companies participated in the talks.
Bilateral trade in 2017 came to US$74.8 million – of which US$72.5 million represented exports from Kazakhstan to Mongolia.
