The “Ulaanbaatar Declaration” was signed during the 11th Intergovernmental Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport Forum in Asia on 4 October. The declaration aims to create smart cities by amending the Kyoto Declaration on the promotion of environmentally sustainable transport.
The forum was held on 2-5 October with the participation of a total of 142 delegates from 24 countries. The main focus was on implementing optimal ways and policy to overcome socio-economic and environmental challenges occurring in Asian cities due to fast growing population and unorganized urbanization.
At the event, S.Batbold, governor of the capital city, said “During the 11th forum, Mayors of Asian cities are discussing about pressing issues and their solutions. Every city has own challenges to reduce carbon emissions and improve environmentally sustainable transport and urbanization. I believe that the cities will share their best experiences on these matters further.”
