A delegation led by the Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry D.Sumiyabazar visited the Russian Federation and Port of Taman on 23-25 September. During the visit, the Mongolian Minister held a meeting with I.E.Levitin, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation and senior officials from Rosneft, the country’s leading oil company.

D.Sumiyabazar met with the Rosneft President I.I.Sechin, exchanging views on wide range of issues including conducting joint research on oil exploration in Mongolia, oil refinery construction, studying possibilities of building a gas pipeline through Mongolia. In addition, Rosneft has agreed to provide aviation fuel for the new international airport at Khushigt Valley.

In addition, two sides agreed to cooperate on processing and transporting Tavan Tolgoi coal through Port of Taman to international markets.

Opened six years ago, Taman Port is relatively new. It is located in European Russia, on the Black Sea coast.
